WM Recruiting Notebook: Spring Signing Updates, News, Notes and Quotes

The spring signing period kicked off recently and those high school wrestlers who didn’t commit in the fall are now signing with colleges across the country.
Patrick Bond, the Virginia prep star from Great Bridge High School considered one of the top ten high school seniors in the country, was the biggest unsigned wrestler heading into this signing period, but that changed when Bond signed with Illinois.
Numerous other wrestlers have committed since then, and numerous others are still pondering their options. Below is some recruiting news, notes and quotes from around the country.
Josh Statum of Homewood, Alabama recently committed to Boston University, where he received a full scholarship. Statum was receiving interest from Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kent State, VMI, Central Michigan and some NAIA schools.
Statum, projected as a 125 pounder for coach Carl Adams and the Terriers, was a 2005 112-pound Alabama state champion, and recently finished runner-up to California’s Brian Moreno at the NHSCA Senior Nationals, losing 7-2 in the finals.
