Cleveland will likely know as early as June whether it will be one of the hosts for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships between the years 2008 to 2011.
Randy Buhr, a spokesman for the NCAA, said the five finalists will make in-person presentations to the NCAA Wrestling Committee at their annual meeting Saturday, April 16, in LaJolla, Calif.
The five finalists bidding to host one or all four years are Cleveland, St. Louis, Des Moines, Omaha and Philadelphia. Buhr said the wrestling committee is hoping to forward site recommendations to the NCAA Championships/Competition Cabinet at its June meeting.
