Penn’s Matt Feast receives the University’s Class of 1915 award

Penn Senior Matt Feast given the Class of 1915 Award;
Feast leaves Penn with second-most wins in program history.

Philadelphia “University of Pennsylvania senior Matt Feast was bestowed with the University’s Class of 1915 Award. Feast becomes the ninth grappler to receive the award since its inception in 1931.

“Matt Feast stands as Penn’s first three-time All American, and also a three-time Academic All American,” Head Coach Roger Reina said. “He is a terrific example of our commitment to excellence on and off the mat.”

The Class of 1915 Award is given annually to the to the male senior that most closely approaches the ideal University of Pennsylvania student-athlete and who has shown outstanding athletic, academic and leadership qualities.

Feast is a four-time NCAA qualifier and became Penn’s first three-time NCAA All-American with his sixth place finish at the 2005 Championships. A team captain his junior and senior seasons, Feast made his mark on the Penn record books by recording 118 career victories which makes him second all-time behind NCAA Champion Brett Matter (128). Feast went 31-6 overall and 8-1 in dual meets during his senior campaign en route to his third-straight first-team All-Ivy League nod.

In the classroom, Feast earned National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Academic Team, as well as Academic All-Ivy accolades for the third-consecutive season year. In 2004, he was a Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-District II second-team selection.

Feast is a two-time recipient of the Dr. W. Austin Bishop Award presented by the University of Pennsylvania Grapplers’ Club to the student-athlete that has made the most outstanding contributions to the program both on and off the mat.
