Richard Salamone is pleased to announce the release of Module 1 (Stance, Movement, Tie-Up, and Set-up Fundamentals) of an extensive multi-volume wrestling technique series (Salamone’s Wrestling Plan for the Jiu Jitsu Man). Richard is s former multi-time national freestyle wrestling champion who has been a student of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the past 7,½ years. Being substantially experienced in both wrestling and jiu jitsu has allowed for a series that truly ‘bridges the gap’ between the two traditions and is well accessible for those from a more traditional martial arts background wanting to learn wrestling technique and principles to supplement their submission and/or standup skills and to more successfully contend with martial artists coming primarily from a wrestling background.
With almost 40 hours of initially filmed raw video, Salamone’s Wrestling Plan for the Jiu Jitsu Man promises to be the most detailed, organized, comprehensive, and integrated series of its kind. Module 1 involves over 4 hours of instruction on 3 DVD’s! More than just instruction on specific techniques, however, emphasis is placed on understanding of principles of position and movement in the execution of wrestling technique. While these videos are jam-packed with wrestling technique, there is much discussion and demonstration of useful mechanical concepts to help a student build a conceptual framework with which to understand and construct a sound technical base.
Brief product details:
Module #1: Stance, Movement, Tie-Up, and Set-Up Fundamentals Over four hours of instruction on 3 DVD’s!
In this module, you will learn the detailed fundamentals of an effective stance, movement, level changing, methods to close the distance (i.e., to ‘shoot’ or ‘drop-step’), head snap, sprawling, back-step and arching movements, foot sweep movements, tie-ups, and set-ups and associated exercises and drills. The actual techniques to attack or defend against attack can only be as good as your more basic ability to understand and apply the mechanics of good position, movement, and physical manipulation of your opponent that form the basis of the successful execution of an offensive or defensive maneuver. This module forms the basis for all subsequent modules: If you are going to get only one module of this instructional series, this one will help you the most; if you get more than one, include this module.
In developing this wrestling video series for martial artists, I was well aware of what is already available, and have made what I believe to be the most detailed, comprehensive, and organized videos ” and integrated series ” of its kind. (Close to forty hours of raw video was filmed over the course of the winter and spring of 2004!) You will be a better wrestler utilizing the Wrestling Plan in your training. The details do make a difference.
