East Lansing, Mich. – Former Spartan All-American Chris Williams has been named the new second assistant wrestling coach at Michigan State University. Williams wrestled at 125 lbs. for MSU from 1997-2002, and was an NCAA All-American in 2001. His 102 career wins place him 14th on the MSU career victories board.
“Chris brings a great deal of experience to the position; he was an All-American as well as being an outstanding student during his time here “said head coach Tom Minkel. “I’m thrilled to have him on our staff.”
Williams, a native of Fowlerville, Mich., was a two-time state champion for Fowlerville High School. He graduated from MSU with a Bachelor of Arts degree in general business, and worked recently as a bank manager for Fifth Third Bank in East Lansing. Williams also coaches the very successful Spartan Lightning youth wrestling club.
