Wrestlers foil burglary

Four young people entering Lake Roosevelt High School in the middle of a December night with mischief in mind were in for a surprise – the wrestling team was asleep in the mat room.
According to a report from the Coulee Dam Police, the four were out skateboarding during the late night and early morning hours of Dec. 4 when they decided to check for unlocked doors at the high school. One of the boys said he entered the school by kicking a door at the north end of the building. The boys then began searching lockers to look for money and items to sell, the police report states. They allegedly took a CD player and some candy.
The wrestling team, who had been asleep in the mat room where they practice, heard what sounded like lockers being opened and closed. A few minutes later, the burglars wandered into the darkened mat room, where they were looking around with what appeared to be Bic lighters.
The coach called police, and while the team was waiting for police to arrive, they noticed four individuals standing in the east parking lot. Three of the burglars were easily identified before they took off down Pine Street.
Police later recovered the CD player from the home of one of the suspects. Charges of second-degree burglary and third-degree theft were filed with the Okanogan County Juvenile Prosecutors Office against three of the suspects on Dec. 29.
A fourth, believed to be the younger brother of one of the boys, was not contacted due to his age, stated the report released Monday
