WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College Head Wrestling Coach Angelo Morascyzk recently resigned his position after serving 13 years with the program.
Morascyzk, who served as the co-head coach with Jim White for five seasons, took over as the head coach in 1998 and immediately led the Presidents to the 1999 Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championship.
During his 13-year tenure, Morascyzk coached 44 PAC champions, including nine who were honored as conference Most Valuable Players. Morascyzk also coached five Academic All-Americans.
“I have had 13 great years coaching at my alma mater, but now it is time for someone to take over the job on a full-time basis,” said Morascyzk. “Recruiting student-athletes is a full-time job and the reason other sports at W&J have become so successful is the ability of the coaches to recruit and concentrate solely on their teams.”
Morascyzk played an integral role in the success of Kevin DeJuliis ’03, Matt Smith ’05 and Wesley Koteski ’02, who finished their careers with the top three win totals in W&J history. DeJuliis, who totaled 117 victories, was an All-American in 2002.
