La Crosse, Wis. “The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse has named its three finalists to be interviewed for the head wrestling coach/recreation specialist. The finalists are Brad Bruhn, head wrestling coach at the State University of New York-Cortland; Tim Fader, head wrestling coach at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater; and Russel Peloquin, assistant wrestling coach at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Bruhn has served as SUNY-Cortland’s head wrestling coach since 2002, leading the team to three top-24 finishes at the NCAA Division III Championships. The Red Dragons placed 24th in 2003; 10th in 2004 and 16th in 2005. He has coached six All-Americans and three Scholar All-Americans. Bruhn is also an activities class instructor at SUNY-Cortland.
Bruhn, who served as an assistant wrestling coach at UW-La Crosse from 1997-98 and 2000-02, was also the head wrestling coach at Centaraus High School in Lafayette, Colorado from 1999-2000.
Bruhn earned his bachelor’s (1997) and master’s (2002) degrees from UW-La Crosse. He placed eighth at 126-pounds in 1995 to earn NCAA III All-America honors for the Eagles. Bruhn, who captured the 126-pound title at the 1995 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships, was a three-time National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American and four-time WIAC Scholar-Athlete. He served as UW-L’s team captain in 1997. Bruhn was 67-28 in his UW-L career.
Fader completed his first season as head wrestling coach at UW-Whitewater in 2005. He is also a lecturer in the Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Coaching Department at UW-Whitewater. He served as head wrestling coach at UW-La Crosse from 1998-2004, directing the Eagles to top-20 finishes at the NCAA III Championships every season. UW-L tied for 14th in 1999; placed sixth in 2000; second in 2001; fourth in 2002; eighth in 2003 and seventh in 2004. He was named the NCAA Division III Rookie Coach of the Year in 1999 and the NCAA III Coach of the Year in 2001.
