AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State athletics department and the Cyclone wrestling program mourn the loss of Cyclone Wrestling Club board member Renee Tripp. Renee died Tuesday after being hit by a car while walking. Renee Tripp was the Cyclone Wrestling Club web site administrator and a team photographer.
“Renee and her husband Fred have been a part of our Cyclone family and we are absolutely devastated by this, “Iowa State wrestling coach Bobby Douglas said. “Renee was our team photographer and I always looked forward to seeing her, whether it was at the NCAA Championships or an early season dual meet. Our thoughts are with Fred and the family right now.”
“You couldn’t be around Iowa State wrestling and not know Renee and Fred Tripp, “Iowa State athletics director Bruce Van De Velde said. “Renee was a selfless supporter of Cyclone wrestling and a wonderful person you enjoyed being around. Our prayers are for Fred and the Tripp family right now.”
The visitation for Renee Tripp is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Home at South Street in Waterloo. The funeral home is near downtown and near the Grout Museum.
Renee’s funeral is Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at the corner of 4th Street and Randolph in Waterloo
