LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell University wrestling program will host a “Weekend with Dan Gable “on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and 16, Bison head coach Dan Wirnsberger announced on Monday. Dan Gable, the legendary frontman for the Iowa Hawkeyes, will hold a coach’s clinic on Sunday beginning at 9:30 a.m. and will speak at a Bucknell wrestling dinner on Saturday evening at the Lewisburg Hotel.
The weekend will begin with a social and dinner at the Lewisburg Hotel on Saturday at 6 p.m., an event that will feature speakers Gable and former Bison wrestler Bill Graham. Graham, a 1962 graduate of Bucknell, donated 5.6 million dollars to the University, making it possible to re-instate wrestling as a varsity sport for the 2005-06 season.
“I’m looking forward to seeing Bucknell Wrestling Alumni the weekend of October 15th and 16th, “Graham said. “This should be a great get-together with Dan Gable making an appearance and facilitating a coaching session for a number of high school coaches that we expect to attend this event. I hope that all of Bucknell’s Wrestling Alumni will be able to attend the festivities on Saturday, October 15th and Sunday, October 16th, so we can have a great time celebrating the return of Varsity Wrestling at Bucknell, as well as just enjoying one another’s company.”
On Sunday, the coach’s clinic with Gable will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on campus in the Langone Athletic Center. The clinic is free for coaches and athletes who R.S.V.P. by Oct. 6. The cost of the dinner is $25 per plate. To register, or for more information, contact Dan Wirnsberger at 570-577-1035 or [email protected].
