The 39th annual Coaches All-Star Classic will return to Stillwater, Oklahoma on November 21. The prestigious NWCA dual was first contested at Gallagher Hall at Oklahoma State in 1967.The dual was then called the East-West Senior Dual and wrestled after the season on April 8. Honorary coaches for the initial dual were Gerry Leeman, Lehigh, and Cliff Keen, Michigan (East) and Myron Roderick, Oklahoma State and Harold Nichols, Iowa State (West). The dual mooved to mid-season in 1973 and only last year moved to the preseason due to scheduling conflicts.
The All-Star team will be named this fall with selections going to the highest returning NCAA placewinner in each weight class. There will be no weight allowance given.
The last time the meet was held at Oklahoma State was February 1, 1999. That year Iowa State great Cael Sanderson had one of his closest wins of his unbeaten career, nipping Vertus Jones of West Virginia 6-5 at 184 lbs.
