NORMAN – Daniel Frishkorn’s season at Oklahoma State is over.Cowboys coach John Smith said the 141-pounder, out since suffering a knee injury at the National Duals in mid-January, won’t return to the lineup anytime soon, if at all.
Rumors that Frishkorn had quit the team followed the Cowboys to Norman, where OSU beat Oklahoma 21-12 Sunday. While Smith wouldn’t confirm that, sources said there has been friction brewing between Frishkorn and the coaches, who were growing impatient with Frishkorn’s slow recovery.
“It’s a situation that he will not be wrestling, “Smith said. “He may not be wrestling for us the rest of his career. That’s all I’m going to say.”
Cowboys senior Jake Rosholt spoke more strongly, reacting to questions that the team might miss the talented Frishkorn.
“Talent doesn’t matter, “Rosholt said. “It doesn’t matter. You can have all the talent in the world, and you still injure the team with the antics and stuff he was pulling.”
Frishkorn opened the season ranked fourth nationally but struggled somewhat early and is just 14-8.
