Bowlsby’s house on market
By the Press-Citizen
University of Iowa Athletic Director Bob Bowlsby, who will move on to a similar position at Stanford in June, has put his house on the market for $1.45 million.
The 7,965-square-foot house, located at 2594 Johnson’s Crossing near Solon, is being listed by Iowa Realty. Located in the Sugar Bottom area north of Iowa City, the house features six bedrooms, five baths and an outdoor swimming pool. The 25-acre property also boasts a three-car garage, a small fishing pond and hiking trails.
Bowlsby, 54, tendered his resignation at UI in April to become the new endowed athletic director for Stanford University. The Waterloo native had been Iowa’s AD for nearly 15 years. He was hired away from the same job at the University of Northern Iowa in 1991.
The Bowlsby house made news in 2002 as a featured home in the home-plans specialty section of Better Homes and Gardens. Built in 1998 by H&H Home Builders of North Liberty, the house was then estimated to be worth $779,600.
Bowlsby’s base annual salary at UI is $366,081.
