MTV Reality Show Made Makes The Grade

Show featuring Dov Rubenstein, a 16-year-old dancer-turned-wrestler from New York, gets strong review from viewers, participants

The MTV reality show MADE featuring dancer-turned-wrestler Dov Rubenstein debuted last week. Rubenstein is a 16-year-old at Onteora High School in New York who wants to break out of his mold as an unathletic geeky actor, singer and performer, and turn himself into a wrestler.

So far, the show has been well-received in the wrestling world. For those not familiar with the show MADE, according to MTV.com, each episode features one willing candidate who embarks on a mission to transform his or her life. Whether it’s to become a varsity football player, a BMX biker, or a surfer, each teenager has a dream to break out of their shell and find out who they really are. Sometimes they make it, sometimes not, and sometimes they realize they had what they wanted all along.

This episode features Dov, who would rather sing, dance, act or play his saxophone “than participate in athletics. Dov is constantly picked on by his classmates, especially by some of the football players. In the hourlong episode “which took more than 100 hours of filming to put together – three-time world champion Gene Mills, Journeyman Athletics owner Frank Popolizio, and WWE star Kurt Angle put Dov though an extremely intense physical and mental makeover to transform Dov into a high school varsity wrestler. Dov is motivated by the desire to prove people wrong, to prove to him and his family he can do it, and like most high school kids, to impress a girl.
