USA Wrestling seeks Women’s Freestyle National Developmental/Resident Coach to help build women’s program

USA Wrestling is accepting applications for the new full-time position of Women’s Freestyle National Developmental/Resident Coach.
This coaching professional would work in the National Team Department, supporting the efforts of National Women’s Coach Terry Steiner in building the women’s wrestling program in the United States.
The coach will run USA Wrestling’s Women’s Freestyle Resident Program at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. In addition, the coach will be responsible for building the age-group national program in women’s wrestling and improving the U.S. performance at the younger ages.
“We need more full-time coaches on our women’s national staff,” said Steiner. “A large amount of our effort in the women’s program has to be on the development side. We need to get more high school and college wrestling teams for women, as well as encourage more clubs to provide opportunity for female wrestlers.”
“We also have to focus on getting talented women athletes at a younger age. We can’t just get them at 18 years old and begin working with them then. We need more of them at 12 or 13 years old getting involved on the national level. Right now, we don’t have the coaching resources to do the things we need to do. In addition, we need to provide more support to the programs and people around the nation who have stepped up for women wrestlers of all ages,” said Steiner.
All qualified and interested freestyle wrestling coaches who would like to be a part of building women’s wrestling in the nation should apply for this position. The deadline for applications is February 18, and coaches are encouraged to apply right away.
