Led by Former Oklahoma State Wrestler Justin Turner, The Vista Ridge High School Wrestling Program is Turning Heads “and Winning Matches

Justin Turner was a Division I wrestler for Oklahoma State from 1996-2000. A native of Dumas, Texas, Turner competed at the highest level of collegiate wrestling under the tutelage of legendary coach John Smith.
After graduation Turner turned to teaching and coaching. He coached the 2000-01 Richland High School (Fort Worth) team to a district championship. From 2001-03 he coached at Pampa High School (Fort Worth), where he started a new program. From 2003-04 he was the head assistant at Broken Arrow High School in Oklahoma, and helped coach the team to a state runner-up finish.
Turner is now back in Texas, and is coaching a first-year boys and girls wrestling program, this time at Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park, Texas, located about 20 minutes from Austin. He has 20 kids in a wrestling program at a public school that has an enrollment of 1,100, but only two classes “freshman and sophomores. The school will expand to grades 9-12 in two years with enrollment expected to be around 2,500.
