Cyclones bury Gophers wrestlers
The University of Minnesota wrestling team won the first three matches and built a 9-0 lead against Iowa State in a dual meet Sunday in Ames, Iowa, before the Gophers’ day turned to slush.
The fourth-ranked Cyclones won six of the final seven bouts and escaped with a 21-12 victory over the No. 8 Gophers.
Iowa State improved its record to 11-0, while the Gophers fell to 2-3.
Heavyweight Cole Konrad, 125-pounder Bobbe Lowe and 133-pounder Mack Reiter opened the day with victories for the Gophers.

Reiter, a redshirt freshman ranked No. 5, beat Jesse Sundell 11-6 in a match pitting four-time Iowa high school state champions. Reiter is 21-3.
Top-ranked Nate Gallick ended the Gophers’ shutout with a 22-7 technical fall over redshirt freshman Manuel Rivera at 141 pounds.
