I’m so extremely thankful. As I’ve gotten older, each year I’ve gained more perspective. For a long time, after big events I would immediately check my social media pages just to see what people thought of my performance. I was a slave to expectations and what people thought of me and my capabilities. That created a lot of anxiety, frustration and bitterness. Taking 2 weeks off social media gave me a clear mind to focus on performing. I’m no longer bound by expectations. I had the time of my life yesterday. I have never smiled so much during a wrestling tournament and I have so many people to thank for it. Dave Schultz once said, if I broke my gold medal down and gave a piece to everyone that has contributed to my success, each piece would be the size of a speck of dust. I want to thank my beautiful wife for her endless support of me. It is truly difficult to be the wife of someone with such big dreams. A lot of the attention is directed toward me, and many sacrifices are made for me to achieve my goals. She never waivers or complains but is extremely supportive and I’m very thankful. My coaches, Mark Manning and Bryan Snyder, who endlessly push me to my limits to see how good we can really become together. Thank you. To the staff at the Olympic Training Center. Bruce Burnett and Bill Zadick, for all your technical help and moral support. I truly believe in what you guys are doing. Brandon Slay for being a mentor and helping me both mentally and spiritually be the man God calls me to be. Our massage therapist Cyrus Poitier, you’re the best! To our trainers. Tyler Weeda for his endless time spent making sure my body was 100%. My strength coach at Nebraska Brian Kamitta, thanks for the mornings you prepared me to be as strong as possible. My functional med doc, Dr. Greg Mongeon for helping to completely change my lifestyle nutritionally, and making me aware of life after wrestling. I thank all my family and friends for coming out to Vegas to support me and my parents for continuously loving me through this journey. Lastly, I thank God for the gifts that he has blessed me with and all the grace he has given me that I don’t deserve. I’m a World Champ. Again. via alliseeisgold
