2nd Annual Dan Gable Open Set For January 15

Dear Coaches,
I hope you are all having a good season and staying injury free. I wanted to remind you of a great opportunity for your athletes to gain some quality matches late in the season. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh will be hosting a very special event this season. On Saturday January 15th, 2005 we will be hosting the 2nd annual Dan Gable Endowment Open in Albee Hall. This open tournament was developed to help build the Dan Gable Endowment Fund, which was created to enhance and secure the wrestling program at UW-Oshkosh in case of any future tribulations.
We hope this event will become one of the largest events in collegiate wrestling, and revive the outstanding competitiveness of the great Northern Open. Teams that have expressed interest in attending this season thus far include the University of Wisconsin, UW-Lacrosse, Upper Iowa, Augsburg, UW-Parkside, and more.
We realize that an additional tournament on your schedule can sometimes be restricted due to budget concerns. Therefore, we would like to offer you the option of staying on campus, directly across from Albee Hall, in our Gruenhagen Conference Center. The cost of staying in this facility is between $15- $30/per room. If you are interested in this option, please reserve ASAP by calling 920-424-1107.
The cost of the event will be $100 per team of ten athletes, and $15 for each additional athlete. You may enter as many athletes from your roster as you wish. The cost for individuals wishing to wrestle unattached is $15.
We hope that you can find time within your schedule to attend this annual event. Even if you cannot attend as a team, please be sure to let your reserve/red shirt/ineligible wrestlers know of this late season competition opportunity.
