Vote for NCAA All-Time Great Big Men

This is the third (and last) group of college wrestlers for your consideration… the upper-weight all-time greats.

As in the past, there seem to be some significant MIAs — Kerry McCoy immediately springs to mind. Thankfully, two vintage great heavyweights — Earl McCready and Dick Hutton — made the list.

As you cast your votes, remember… they want you to only consider their college accomplishments. Please do NOT consider their freestyle/Greco career, coaching resume, pro rasslin’ stardom, or anything eles beyond college.

NCAA 75th Anniversary Team

In the spirit of celebrating 75 years of the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, the NCAA and the NWCA is asking wrestling fans across the country to help name 15 wrestlers to the NCAA 75th Anniversary team that will be honored at the 2005 NCAA Championships in St. Louis, MO. This is your chance to recognize the heroes and champions of our great sport from the past 75 years.

An esteemed group of wrestling historians, have nominated a total of 45 wrestlers that general public will vote upon for the 75th Anniversary Team. The 45 wrestlers have been grouped into three categories, which will consist of 15 wrestlers each: Lightweights (115lbs-141lbs), Middleweights (142lbs-174lbs) and Heavyweights (177lbs-285lbs). Please know that nominations are selected on NCAA performance only.

Each week the pubic will have the opportunity to vote for five wrestlers from each respective group. The top five vote getters from each group will be named to the NCAA 75th Anniversary team. The NWCA will rotate the groups over a nine week period so each group will be available to be voted upon three times. This team will remain a secret until the NCAA Championships in St. Louis.
