3-time NCAA Wrestling champion Myron Roderick, who is known as a fierce competitor and championship coach! During his 3 years as a wrestler with Oklahoma State Wrestling,
Myron won 42 of his 44 matches. He also captured 3 national titles in
1954, 1955 and 1956 – one at 137 pounds, then two more at 130 pounds.
In
1957, Myron transitioned from wrestler to head coach of the Cowboys,
which is where he attained his greatest stature. Myron coached the
Cowboys to the NCAA team title in 1958
when he was 23, and he became the youngest coach ever to guide a
national champion team in any sport. In his 13 years of coaching, he
produced 7 NCAA team championships. His Cowboys won 140 dual meets, lost
only 10 and tied 7, once stringing 84 consecutive duals without a loss.
His wrestlers have also won 20 individual NCAA titles and four gold
medals in the Olympic Games
