Network Conducts Revealing One-on-One Interviews with 2000 Olympic Wrestling Gold Medalist and Tennessee’s Hall of Fame Basketball Coach
NEW YORK, February 22, 2005 – CSTV: College Sports Television (www.cstv.com), will shine a spotlight on two of sports’ greatest icons on Sunday, February 27, when it premieres two new episodes of its innovative One2One interview series, featuring Tennessee’s Hall of Fame basketball coach Pat Summitt and 2000 Olympic wrestling gold medalist Rulon Gardner.
The Rulon Gardner One2One special, premiering Sunday at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT, is a special presentation of CSTV’s U.S. Olympic Pursuit original series, the first regularly scheduled, year-round television programming dedicated to showcasing America’s future Olympic champions and amateur athletes. The Pat Summit One2One special premieres Sunday at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
Gardner shocked the world at the 2000 Sydney Olympics by upsetting heavily favored and previously unbeaten Aleksandr Karelin of Russia to capture the gold medal in the Greco-Roman super heavyweight division.
During Sunday’s One2One interview with CSTV’s Greg Amsinger, Gardner recalls the difficulties he experienced growing up due to his size and his learning disability, as well as the challenge of pursuing his education while training for the Olympics. He also vividly recounts the harrowing, near-death experience in 2002 when he became lost while snowmobiling and eventually lost a toe to frostbite.
Summitt is the Hall of Fame coach who has guided the Tennessee Volunteers to a record six NCAA National Championships and has been named NCAA Coach of the Year seven times. During her One2One interview with CSTV college basketball analyst Debbie Antonelli, discusses her relationships with archrival Geno Auriemma of Connecticut, Jody Conradt of Texas and other coaches, and her humble start in coaching when she made $250 a year. Summitt also tells Antonelli why one of her former players says that “The monster comes out of her in March. “
CSTV’s innovative One2One original series features intimate sit-down interviews with the biggest names in college sports. One2One has already sat down with legendary coaches Joe Paterno, Jim Calhoun and Mike Krzyzewski, former UConn basketball star Diana Taurasi and NCAA President Myles Brand. NBA Commissioner David Stern will be featured on the March 6 One2One.
