Lehigh-Oklahoma State clash completely sold out

Lehigh’s Cory Cooperman earned a major decision in last month’s meeting with the top-ranked Cowboys

Bethlehem, PA “Lehigh Athletics has announced that the 2005 Sheridan Dual pitting the fourth-ranked Mountain Hawks against No. 1 Oklahoma State on February 13 at Stabler Arena has sold out. There are no more tickets available for this match.

General public tickets for the match sold out on January 20 “marking the largest advance sale for a Lehigh wrestling match in school history. Faculty, staff, and student tickets were made available on Monday. Based on high early demand, Lehigh Athletics added on an additional 100 seats for ID holders on Wednesday. With the additional temporary seating, over 900 students, faculty, and staff have been accommodated in all. The last of the ID holder tickets were claimed on Thursday.

Stabler Arena holds 5,600 spectators for a wrestling dual meet. With temporary seating, staffing, and the team participants, Sunday’s crowd will number a Lehigh dual meet record of 5,828. The previous attendance record at a Lehigh dual came in 1981, when Lehigh hosted Syracuse in front of 5,150 at Stabler Arena.

Lehigh, the three-time defending EIWA champion, is an impressive 19-3 in dual meet competition in 2004-05. Oklahoma State, the defending national champion, is off to a 17-0 start in dual meets as the Cowboys look to defend their national title. The highly-anticipated match gets underway at 6:00 p.m. at Stabler Arena. Doors will open at 5:00, and a pre-match parade honoring past Lehigh EIWA championship teams will begin at 5:45.

Sunday’s dual will mark the first visit by a No. 1-ranked team and by a defending national champion since the Iowa Hawkeyes wrestled in Bethlehem in 1987.

For fans unable to acquire tickets, the match will be televised live on Service Electric 2 Sports. The radio broadcast can be heard live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 beginning at 5:30. The radio broadcast will also air live worldwide on Lehigh’s web site at lehighsports.com. FSN Pittsburgh (DirecTV channel 628) will re-air the match on Saturday, February 19, at 5:00 pm EST.
