Iowa’s Mark Perry Named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week

IOWA CITY, IA — Iowa wrestler Mark Perry has been named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week. Perry, a redshirt freshman from Stillwater, OK, wrestles at 165 pounds. He was honored for pinning two Big Ten opponents last weekend, as Iowa defeated Penn State (23-16) and Ohio State (30-6).
Perry is 18-2 this season in collegiate competition, 10-1 in duals and 5-0 in Big Ten duals. He has pinned his last three opponents, and leads Iowa in team points scored in dual competition (44) and major decisions (6), and is tied for the team lead in pins (4). He is the second Iowa wrestler to earn the Big Ten weekly honors this season. Hawkeye junior Mario Galanakis earned the honor in January.
Perry and the Hawkeyes will host Minnesota Friday at 7 p.m. and Michigan Sunday at 6 p.m. Both matches will be held in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
