State College, Pa., Feb. 9, 2005 – The No. 14 ranked Penn State wrestling team’s Feb. 18 home match with Ohio State has been moved to a 7:30 p.m. start time in order to accommodate a live telecast of the event by FOX/Sports Pittsburgh (channel 34). The match, to be held in Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center due to Dance Marathon activities in Rec Hall that weekend, was originally scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
Penn State (9-8; 2-3 in the Big Ten) will wrestle matches on the road this weekend at No. 2 Illinois (Feb. 11) and No. 17 Northwestern (Feb. 12), both slated for 8:00 p.m. (ET) starts, before returning home for the final home dual meet of the season against the Buckeyes (7-9; 0-5 Big Ten).
The match, which will be produced by WPSX, will be the fourth televised home match of the season for Penn State and will air live on both FOX/Sports Pittsburgh and WPSX (channel 3). It will also air several times on a tape-delayed basis on CSTV (check local listings) beginning with the first telecast on Feb. 20 at 9:30 p.m. Jason Knapp will provide play-by-play, while former Nittany Lion NCAA champion and head coach John Fritz and Nittany Lion All-American and Olympian Ken Chertow will provide color commentary.
The match will also be “Penn State Wrestling Hat Night. “The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a specially designed Penn State wrestling mesh hat similar to those worn by players at last year’s NFL Draft.
