PHILADELPHIA, Pa.-Eddie Jones, Robbie Preston and Dominic DeNunzio each posted victories for Harvard but it dropped a 28-15 decision to No. 15 Penn Friday afternoon at the Palestra. The Crimson drops to 0-7, 0-1 in Ivy action. Penn improves to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Ivy League.
No. 6 Matt Feast got things started at heavyweight by a 4-3 decision over No. 7 Bode Ogunwole in two rounds of overtime. The bout started with a scoreless first period but Ogunwole broke the stalemate at the beginning of the second period with an escape. Feast tied the score 1-1 with 1:40 remaining in the bout with an escape of his own. In overtime, Ogunwole took a 2-1 lead with an escape, but Feast countered by escaping. Again Ogunwole pulled ahead on an escape in the third tiebreaker, Ogunwole allowed Feast to earn back the point escape to open the fourth tiebreaker. With the match deadlocked at 3-3, Feast was awarded the victory because he had 34 seconds of riding time in his favor.
No. 16 Robbie Preston got the Crimson on the board wit a 6-5 decision over Mason Lenhard at 125 lbs.
Mike Silengo recorded a 19-5 technical fall over Brent Kakesako in 6:19 at 133 lbs.
Harvard had to forfeit at 141 lbs. but Dominic DeNunzio came back with a 10-6 decision over Kyle Bernholz at 149 lbs.
Zack Shananman earned a 13-0 major decision over Matt Button at 157 lbs. and Penn increased its lead when Harvard had to forfeit at 174 lbs.
Eddie Jones topped Dan Gallagher, 2-1, at 184 lbs. and Penn forfeited at 197 lbs. to close out the match.
The Crimson is back in action Saturday when it takes on Princeton at noon.
