OSU wrestling defeats Northern Iowa, 30-6

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa ” Oklahoma State’s top-ranked wrestling team built a 17-0 lead and never looked back on its way to defeating No. 13 Northern Iowa 30-6 Friday evening inside UNI’s West Gym.
125-pounder Coleman Scott got things started with a 3-1 overtime victory over Chris Helgeson. No. 10 Nathan Morgan followed suit for the Cowboys, deciding Jeremy Meyer, 8-2.
Daniel Frishkorn got the call at 141 pounds and didn’t disappoint, recording a 17-2 tech fall over Justin Swafford.
Zack Esposito went up against the Panthers’ highest ranked individual, No. 7 Jeff Harrison, and prevailed by a score of 6-2. At 157 pounds, Kevin Ward scored an 11-5 decision over Chris Bitetto.
Sam Lewnes filled in for Johny Hendricks at 165 pounds, but came up on the short end of a 12-6 score against No. 12 Nick Baima. Chris Pendleton picked up bonus points for the Cowboys with a 15-6 major decision over Eric Hauan.
The Cowboys lost at 184 pounds, with Jack Jensen losing to Dan Dunning, 8-3. Jake Rosholt captured a hard fought 6-2 victory over No. 9 Sean Stender.
At heavyweight, Steve Mocco made short work of Jeff Knoll, pinning him in 49 seconds to finish off the 30-6 Cowboy win.
The Cowboys return to action next Friday when they host conference rival Missouri at 7 p.m.
