Wolverines Win Six-Straight Matches From 141 Through 174 To Defeat Short-Handed Gophers

MINNEAPOLIS “Seventh-ranked Michigan won six of 10 matches to defeat fifth-ranked Minnesota 24-19 Sunday afternoon at the Sports Pavilion in Minneapolis in front of 2,237 fans.
Minnesota jumped out to a 10-0 lead behind a major decision win from Bobbe Lowe (19-7 over Jim Shutich) and a pin from Mack Reiter (over Craig Gillison at 1:27), but Michigan won the next six matches to defeat the Gophers one weekend after losing to Minnesota 21-16 in the National Duals quarterfinals.
Michigan improved to 3-0 in the Big Ten, 11-3 overall, while Minnesota fell to 0-2 in the Big Ten, 6-6 overall. The Gophers were without two starters, including seventh-ranked Roger Kish at 184 pounds, and had three wrestlers competing for the first time in their respective careers at different weights.
