State Wrestling Champion Changing Schools

Des Moines, March 1st, 2005 – One of the state’s top high school athletes is changing schools just days after winning a state high school wrestling championship.

Montell Marion just became Valley High School’s first 3-time wrestling finalist ever. He’s only a junior, so he’ll be favored to reach the championship a fourth time next season, but if he does, it’ll be as a Roosevelt Roughrider, not a Tiger.

Valley Principal Vicky Poole confirms Marion is transferring to Roosevelt High School, because the school is more diverse than Valley. Marion’s father would neither confirm or deny the transfer, saying only that it was being considered.
