CSTV to televise Big Ten Wrestling Championships March 7

NEW YORK, February 28, 2005 “For the second consecutive year, CSTV (www.CSTV.com) will televise the Big Ten Wrestling Championships, when the first college sports network presents the championships of the strongest collegiate wrestling conference Monday, March 7, at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT. Jason Knapp will handle play-by-play on the CSTV telecast. Providing analysis will be Dan Gable, the two-time NCAA Champion from Iowa State and a 1972 Olympic gold medalist who later coached Iowa to a record 15 NCAA titles, and Olympian Ken Chertow, a three-time All-American and Academic All-American while wrestling at Penn State.
The Big Ten, the strongest collegiate wrestling conference in the country, sports nine teams in the Top 20: #2 Illinois, #6 Michigan, #9 Iowa, #10 Wisconsin, #11 Minnesota, #16 Penn State, #17 Indiana, #18 Northwestern and #20 Michigan State. The Big Ten Wrestling Championships, held at the University of Iowa, will help set the tone for the 2005 NCAA Wrestling Championships. Last season, five Big Ten schools finished in the top 10 at the NCAAs: Iowa, Ohio State, Illinois, Minnesota and Michigan.
CSTV is televising 11 Big Ten Championships throughout the 2004-05 season: the men’s and women’s soccer tournament finals, the field hockey tournament final, and the championships in men’s and women’s gymnastics, softball, men’s and women’s swimming & diving, men’s and women’s track & field and wrestling.
On Tuesday, March 8, the Minnesota wrestling team will take front and center when CSTV airs Dog Days: Minnesota Wrestling (11:30 p.m./8:30 p.m. PT). CSTV’s Dog Days original series takes viewers behind-the-scenes and into the faces of the student-athletes and coaches at the top college athletic programs in the country. Among the Minnesota wrestlers interviewed for the March 8 Dog Days program are 2003 All-America Bobbe Lowe, 2004 All-America Cole Konrad, Matt Nagel and freshman sensation Mack Reiter, along with head coach J. Robinson and assistant coach Joe Russell.
